In recent years, Ubud has grown considerably and has become another popular tourist destination in Bali. When we first visited, it was mainly backpackers who came to Ubud. Today there are many luxury hotels and resorts in the middle of rice fields and more package tourists visit Ubud.

Yoga, cooking class, spa, dance show: You never get bored in Ubud

The range of activities in and around Ubud is huge and there is something for everyone. There are more and more yoga studios, wonderful spas, fine restaurants, shops of international clothing manufacturers, cooking classes, markets, dance shows and much more.

Often it is much quieter in and around Ubud in the morning. Around noon the first day visitors from the tourist resorts around Denpasar arrive in Ubud. We have learned that it is better to visit attractions and do activities in the morning. In the morning you have more peace and places are not that crowded.

In the evening there are still many day trippers in town. They all want to attend dance shows and afterwards have dinner in one of the restaurants. But after dinner it is getting quieter again and Ubud feels a little more peaceful and comfortable again. The center of Ubud is located at Jalan Raya Ubud and the cross street Jalan Monkey Forest. There are many restaurants, shops and attractions along these roads.

This time we have spent two weeks in Ubud. During our stay, we have tried a number of different restaurants. We haven’t been to the expensive and elegant places but have looked for places with cheap and good local food. Umah Pizza: The best Pizza in Ubud

Address: Jalan Bisma No.12

We love Indonesian food and in Ubud there are plenty of restaurants with delicious local food. From time to time we also like a change and every now and so often we crave for pizza.

On the way from our Guest House to the center of Ubud, we pass by the pizzeria Umah. This restaurant is always busy. Especially in the evening it is well attended and sometimes it’s difficult to find an empty table. The smell of freshly baked pizzas from the wood stove is irresistible. So we need to try a pizza at this place.

Our favorite pizza in this restaurant is the Pizza Umah with Parma ham and rocket salad. The pizzas come in two different sizes 20 and 32 cm. Pizza always tastes best with a glass of red wine. If a whole bottle of wine is too much for you just can order wine by the glass. Umah pizza offers good value for your money and it’s definitely one of the best restaurants in Ubud to have a Pizza.

The coffee, which is produced at Kopi on Bisma is very good. Our favorite is the double shot latte, but the cappuccino is very good too.

The restaurant has only a few tables between the buildings and temples. Most of the tables are low and you sit on cushions on the floor.

The food is very good and there is a whole range of local dishes you can choose from. The portions are generous and very good value. Our favorites are the curries and the delicious Mie Goreng.
