Camping vehicles in use For us, the camp area was a great inspiration. It is absolutely awesome to walk around the camp area and look at the incredible variety of vehicles at close range in daily use. Approximately 1’800 vehicles were at the camp area. From normal cars with tents to four-axle army trucks. It was a funny feeling standing in the middle of all the expedition trucks with our normal car.
How to get to the Abenteuer & Allrad fair in Bad Kissingen
Of course, it is possible to visit the Abenteuer & Allrad fair by public transport and to stay in a hotel room. But hey, this is all about off-road and camping vehicles. It’s almost a must to visit the fair with your own off-road vehicle if you have one.
Unfortunately, we do not own a vehicle at present. But we got a vehicle provided for our road trip around Southern Germany. The VW Passat Alltrack is a four-wheel vehicle. It is not the typical vehicle for adventurers and off-road enthusiasts. In the camp area we are quite a sight with our station wagon. We are surrounded by Toyota Land Cruisers, Land Rovers and huge trucks. We can say, however, that the Passat Alltrack has mastered the muddy ground properly and even sleeping in the car was quite comfortable.

Where to camp at the Abenteuer & Allrad fair in Bad Kissingen
Do you own a recreational vehicle? Then, we highly recommend you to visit the Abenteuer & Allrad fair with your own vehicle and stay at the camp area. Sure, it can rain and the Camp area will quickly get muddy. It can also rain heavily and you will end up in knee-deep mud. Two years ago even proven four-wheel vehicles needed to be dragged out. But that’s exactly what it is all about. Camp amidst a huge variety of off-road camper vehicles, meet like-minded adventurers and have a camp fire with friends. Share your story, hear others and have a drink around a camp fire. All this is just a great experience and you will never forget your visit at the Abentuer & Allrad fair in Bad Kissingen.
The camp area for visitors of the fair is located along the Saale river. The area is quite large and it is not easy to gain an overview of the whole area. It is best to just drive around and look for an empty space. Along the river there are very nice places, but these are the muddiest if the rain starts.
There is a mobile ablution block near the entrance with toilets and showers. In addition there are several Toi Toi’s at different places in the camp area. If you want to take a shower, you might have to wait a while. During the day the queue in front of the shower is shorter than in the evening. The price for the shower is EUR. 2
The camp area costs EUR 15 per vehicle/night
Catering at the camp area and at the Abenteuer & Allrad fair
Within walking distance of the camp area there is an Aldi and a Netto supermarket. There you can stock up on food and beverages. If you don’t want to cook you can also walk to the nearby McDonald’s. On the camp site there is a beer hall that serves drinks and food and has some live music in the evenings. However, places are limited.
In the morning, the local bakery shop has a sales stand close to the entry to the camp area. You can buy fresh pastries and coffee but be prepared for a long queue.
On the fairgrounds, there are plenty of food stalls. Coffee and cake, meatloaf with bread, sausages, baked potatoes or a complete lunch with salad, steak and fries. In the beer hall there are enough tables with benches and shade when the sun is out.
